Networking XP

S

Santana

I have a W2K server on an emachine (PC1) and XP Pro on a
HP Pavilion (PC2). The c drive is shared.

I have added PC2 to a workgroup called workgroup.

From PC2 I can ping all of the computers in the workgroup.
All of the computers in the workgroup can ping PC2.

When I go into network neighborhood from PC2 I cannot see
any computers in the workgroup, PC1 included.
However when I go into network neighborhood from PC1 or
any other computer I see PC2.

since I can ping and see PC2 from other computers I know
it was added to the workgroup

How or what do I need to do to see the network from PC2.

PC2 can't map to PC1 but PC1 can map to PC2

HELP!!!!

Santana,

From the Local Area Connection Properties wizard on PC2, select the
Advanced tab. Is ICF ("Protect my computer...") enabled? Disable it.
If that solves the problem, get a firewall that lets you run file
sharing on your LAN, and install it on all your computers.

If that does not resolve your problem, from each computer do Start -
Run - "ipconfig /all >ipconfig.txt" then copy and paste contents of
ipconfig.txt here.

Cheers,

Chuck
