networking XP to Windows 98

I want to network a laptop running xp with a pc running
windows 98. I think I need a windows xp disc to enable
the pc to run the network wizard for xp. I don't have one
since my laptop did not come with discs. Only came with
recovery system built in. Can I download neccessary files
from microsoft?? Anyone know?? Am I making sense??

Run network setup wizard in windows xp, and it will allow to make a network
setup wizard that will be put on a floppy so you can run it on the 98 system,

You don't need to run the wizard. Just plug both PCs into your switch. It
should work.
