I have a dell with a NIC card. Win XP SP1 + all updates. I would like
to install a NIC card in my older win 98 SE computer and tie the two
together. Will I have to install some software in my older system?
What kind of cable do I use?

Windows 98 will only need to have the correct NIC drivers installed. Then,
yo need to install TCP/IP protocol and file and printer sharing for
Microsoft Networks (from the Window 98 CD).

You will also need a 'crossover' ethernet cable. If you
use a standard one you will need a network switch which
costs more money, but if you use a 'crossover' cable no
switch is needed.
