I have XP on a desktop and win 2000 on a laptop. both
connect to the internet through a router connected to a
DSL modem. I cannot get them to recognize each other on
the network. the workgroup name is the same for both and
I have run network setups on both. can anybody tell me if
there is a trick to getting the two to talk?

Have you established network connectivty to both of the
client machines?

Can you PING each of the machines?

Are you trying to connect with NetBIOS?

Do you have user accounts on both machines that match
username and password?
