Networking problems with Windows XP/Windows ME

I am running a home network through a cable modem that's connected to a
network router. There are four computers connected to the router, three
running Windows XP and one running Windows ME. The computer running Windows
ME cannot connect to the network. All the connecting ethernet cables are
properly secured and working and the network PCI cards are secured as well.
Can you tell me what might have gone wrong?

Is the ME computer in the same workgroup? Does it have it own name? When you
ran the Network setup wizard did you opt to make the floppy so that the XP
peculiar files could be used to setup the ME system? Is everything shared
you want shared?

Jim,

Your statement "cannot connect to the network" is pretty vague. I'll start you
with my standard troubleshooting guide.

Since the problem involves a Windows ME computer, be aware of the problem with
the browser (and Network Neighborhood) when mixing Windows 9x (95, 98, ME) and
Windows NT (NT, 2000, XP, 2003) on a LAN.
