I am about to give up and get rid of all the computers. They just are
not fun anymore. :-(
Here's the problem. Two notebooks, one running XP Pro, the other
WIN2K, latest service packs and updates.
The two units are connected to a wireless router with a print server.
(Speedstream 2624) Though the same basic problems exist when they are
coupled to a plain Jane Ethernet hub. Either the one that is part of
the Speedstream or a D-Link DS104 hub that I have.
On the WIN2K unit in explorer, under Network Places, I can see the
network group and the two computers. However, when I try to access the
other unit I get an error "\\TOS is not accessible. The network path
not found." From the XP unit I get an error "Workgroup is not
accessible. Network path not found." At a DOS (CMD) prompt I can
ping the router and the other notebook from the WIN2K unit. From the
XP unit I can ping the router but not the other notebook.
The WIN2K unit can print through the printer server but the XP unit
cannot find it. I can run the router setup program from either unit.
All settings are as they should be for the router and both notebooks
show up in the client list with the correct IP address.
I have checked all the settings, uninstalled and reinstalled
everything but not luck. I am don't know what to try next other than
reinstalling both OS systems.
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
