Networking Problem

I have a network of 10 computers, some wired and some wireless. Using a
Linksys wireless g router. One and only one computer is having a problem
connecting to the network and this problem is occuring on 3 different ways
of connecting(usb wireless, pci card wireless and onboard network card).
In all cases, the computer recognizes the network but will not acquire a
network address. I am thinking its a Windows XP issue but apart from that I
have no idea and its making me crazy. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in adavance.

You should start by giving this machine a fixed IP address so
that you can do some proper testing.

Thanks, but still no actual network connection.

If this is a recent problem, use System Restore to return the
machine to its working condition.

If it is an old problem then I suspect that your registry has
been corrupted in some obscure way. I would follow this
course of action:
1. Test the PCI adapter in some other machine to ensure that
it works.
2. Uninstall each and every network component.
3. Re-install TCP/IP.
4. Give the machine a fixed IP address, then use ping.exe to
test its connectivity.
If still unsuccessful then I would do this:
5. Boot the machine with a Bart PE boot CD.
6. Rename c:\Windows to Windows.bad.
7. Install a new copy of Windows in c:\Windows. Do not format
drive C:.
8. Test the network connectivity.
