I lost my Client for Microsoft Networks in
Contol Panel/Network Connections/Server/Properties
I'm on a LAN connection
I was told by a PC Tech that Automatic Windows Updates from Microsoft
did this to me and that it is a common problem. But no solution was given.
If you do not have a Network created it is recommended that you
deactivate Client for Microsoft Networks to protect your system.
Thanks Microsoft. You screwed me again. Now how can I undo that to get
it back.

I have never heard of such a thing. I have several Windows XP computers and
Windows Updates did not remove Client for Microsoft Networks. I think you
need to find a different tech.

In the meantime have you tried adding it back in the Network properties from
Control Panel?

Yes Richard I did try adding it back from the Control Panel to no avail.
Read what Shield Up has to say about "Client for Microsoft Networks" at
http://grc.com/su-fixit.htm . It's interesting.

In a word .... phooey. Steve Gibson is an excellent utility author but not
so hot at security issues.
