i currently have 3 computers all hooked up in a home network. 1 computer with 98 se. 1 with xp home edition, and mine with 2000 pro. the problem im having is that my windows 98 se computer cant browse the hard drive of my 2000 pro computer. xp can only log in, if i put in my 2000 login name and password. however my 98 machine. however i can browse both computers virtually flawlessly. browsing the others computers from mine is unusually slow, however that problem can be fixed later. i do have sp4 service pack for 2000. with my 98 machine, it will not let me input a username and password. ne help would be appreciated since i do need full networking functions for my home business.

Thanks,
Harley

the problem of windows98 browsing windows Xp sometimes because you might have your drives in NTFS formatting so you will never see them actually, about entering a user name and password from windows 98 this is not possible, the only way is to add a user name and password of the windows 98 to both windows 2000 or windows Xp as a user on the commputer, if you mean you cannot enter a user name and password on startup i think you can managae that from the control panel from the Users area, or you can rigth click on network neighberhood or my network places whatever it is called and then right click on the name of your home network you will find this drop down list at the middle of the window it must be client for microsoft network.

I face a same problem with Harley. So You were saying that if win xp using NTFS, windows 98 will not be able to use its resource?
