Networking/Printer drivers

Hi

I know this is the wrong place but can't get answers from the networking
forum and wonder iof anyone knows where I can find a helpful HP forum, as I
have problems with my printer drivers and don't know how to solve it.

I don't know what kind of problem you have.
and what kind of printer you talking about.

but if you looking for HP Printer info,

is good source of HP printer infromations.

also you can reach their support forum from this URL.
just choose product, and follow step.
then you can go to forum from left side of menu.

Hello

I have a 98SE connected to an HP Deskjet 6122. It works fine

I have also a laptop XP connected to a router to which the 98SE is also
connected. The router is connected to the internet via cable.

More often than not when I am working on Word I get MS error reports which
indicate that I have a driver problem.

The problem is I have no idea, after spending hours on HP site, which driver
I need for the sort of networking that I am doing.

I understand that when you open Word it looks for the printer, and that is
where the problem is.

The driver, from what I remember was installed automacally by the XP when I
set up the home network.

I have so far been unable to find an HP forum where I could discuss these
things.

I'm afraid I still cannot find the HP Forum. Maybe they don't have one for
my type of machine Deskjet 6122.

your HP Deskjet 6122 came with CD, that contain network setup tool.
you just insert cd then start program on cd, just choose network setup and follow instructions.
(see reference guide Page 10)

connected via Parallel cable or USB?
How do you networked both PC?
(TCP/IP, Hub, ect.)
Do you have error on Windows 98SE, or Windows XP?
What is exact Error message?
If error on Windows XP do you have any error on Event Viewer?

normally Printer drivers are applied by each of OS.
so Windows 98 Apply Driver for Windows 98 SE on itself.
then Windows XP apply Driver for Windows XP on Windows XP PC.
(two method you can choose,
one install by installer on local port then after installation change port to standard TCP port
second choise install printer by network printer and choose driver from list -
If you already install driver once by installer, that driver show on list too )

also you can ask HP support for forum isuue.
(so they manage forum, they know where it is)
