I have had my PC and laptop networked using Windows XP for over a year now
with never any problem. Now all of a sudden I am having problems and I can
get some sites on the PC, some online programs like MS Messenger, Weatherbug,
but no email, on the laptop I can get some online programs like MS Messenger,
Weatherbug, but no email and no websites.

I can connect to the internet with my PC via our high speed modem if I plug
directly into the modem, I can do the same with my lap top, but when I plug
back into the router there is the same problems stated above.

I have blown the network connection and set it up new, and it still doesn't
work. I am completely frustrated.

My thought is that the router is bad, but my husband thinks that it is our
home network connection. I disagree with this because I can see the network
when I am plugged to the router, I can access his pc and all the files that I
could before so I do not believe it is the home network connection. I think
the router is bad.

We know all the powercords and the CAT 5 wires and such work because again,
when we plug in direct to the modem, we can function normally - so that
problem is not an issue.

Has anyone had anything similar and/or do you have any suggestions to help
us with this issue? I am about to pull out my hair.

I would suspect a router problem. If either PC works correctly when
connected directly to the Internet but not when connected to the router that
would be almost positive proof that the PC is fine but the router is not.
