networking issue

After resolving several other challenges with my LAN, I am left with one on
a laptop, XP MCE and the issue is when booting up I continue to have to
manually enter the username and password in order for this unit to connect
to my LAN.

This occurs when going into Windows Explorer/My Network Places/Entire
Network/Microsoft Windows Network/Workgroup/silverone it brings up a
window where I enter the username (Administrator) and the password, but
there is no option offered below where I can "save password"... so
connection on the next bootup will be automatic.

Is there a setting somewhere in the security or other admin areas that would
make this option available again?? It occurrs on all other XP Pro machines
on my system.

This has been an issue since first of this month... and I'm finally getting
around to trying to "fix" this so my wife doesn't have to keep remembering
(meaning - asking me everytime) what the password is.

Any wisdom??

thanks,

Make sure that your wife's logon name/password also exists on each of the
other machines.

yes, I did all that, it has made no difference. The issue in not
connecting, it does that just fine. the issue is that I am not being
offered a check box to "remember password" when I manually connect.... so
that I don't have to do it everytime the unit it booted up. All of my other
units offered the option to remember to make the connection automatically.

Is this something unique to the XP MCE operating system? All my other
computers are XP Pro, and they do not have this problem... only this
laptop!!!! It seems to me it used to be available, and I'm thinking
perhaps one of the past updates changed a setting somewhere...

My own failing memory now makes me wonder if it ever did work the same as
the others.

Is there a way I can force it to remember the passwords so the connections
can be made automatically?
