Networking Issue

I am trying to network three PCs (1 Desktop, and two laptops) wirelessly. The
desktop is hardwired to a router (BT make) and the two laptops have a
combination of wireless network card and a usb network card.

I have assigned them all to the same workgroup (HOME) and when I run the
search I can see all of the PCs connected. The issue I'm having is that when
I double click on one of the PCs to access the shared folders I get an error
message along the lines of access not granted and that I should contact the
administrator.

What are the ways our this? All PCs are running XP have the SP2 pack
installed.

Soiunds like your firewall may be preventing access to the network, I had a
similar issue. Try diasbling your firewall and see if you can access then. If
you can then all you need to do is find the IP address range or individual IP
adresses for each computer and add them to the allowed section of your
firtewall client server. I know that both Windows Firewall and Norton
Personal Firewall have thisa abliity. I disabled my Windows Firewall and
configured my Norton since it seems to be the most comprehensive while
remaining user friendly. Good luck and let me know if this helps.
