Networking and DSL - multiple connections

We've had DSL for five years, but a screw up by the phone company reinstalled
the DSL service. I assume we're going into a new server on their end. We
are guaranteed that more than one computer at a time can "dial in". But
where that used to happen, now only one PC at a time can get in and the
others have to wait.

Too many things happend on the same day: three updates from Windows and the
"new" DSL service. I believe the "new" service is the culprit although my
fellow co-workers don't. This is\was working on a five port LinkSys
workgroup hub with the three networked to the same workgroup using a Westell
modem. None of this equipment is new, but it worked two weeks ago. The
network is fine; we all have peer-to-peer access. I used to have IP
addresses for the three of us, but now it wants to automatically get it's
own.

I haven't got a clue and the DSL service, Verizon, told me to call LinkSys.
Once upon a time I actually got a Verizon rep who got me up and running, but
it was all hit and miss until it finally worked. Obviously I don't know a
lot, so is there something I should look into? HELP!!

The issue is the DSL service and others have has the same experienced. I
don't remember the details of the service change, but Verizon used to allow
multiple machines to acquire IP addresses when using a hub or switch, and
has been progressively phasing this out. There are two possible solutions.
1. Some Westell DSL modems contain a built in router functionality. If
this is the case with yours, you need to log into the modem and reconfigure
it to enable the router mode.
2. Alternatively, replace your switch with a router. The switch can be
chained to the router if extra ports are needed.

I suggest using the Verizon news groups if you want to discuss it further.

Thanks for the help. Will do.
