I have windows media center xp desktop that is hooked up to a router for
internet. It connects to my printer through a usb. I also have a new labtop
with vista that I have wired to the router also. On the new vista I can see
my desktop on the network and can acsess shared folders. BUT I can not get
the printer to show up. It will not find it. When I select " the printer that
i want isnt listed" and then find printer by name I select a shared printer
by name. I browse and see it then select it then BAM EVERYTIME I GET

"Windows can not connect to the printer. Access is denied"

Help I am so close.

GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!Seems like the screwed up way of doing things!!!

Seen this on ProProfs.com

Just want to share what I have discovered with windows vista. If you would
like to connect to a remote printer in a remote computer connected in your
router do the following:
Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer.

Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the
drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next.

A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the
\\computer name\printer name .

This normally indicates that the print$ share on the machine sharing the
printer has the wrong settings.

open a command window on the client

dir \\mediacentermachinename\print$

You should get a list of directories
