Carl

Hello please put me out of my misery.

I have xp running on a laptop and desktop. The laptop can
see but not access the desk top. The desk top gives me
this errorr message when I try and look at the workgroups.

Workgroup is not accessible you might not have permisson
to use this network resource. Contact the administrator
of the server to find out if you have access permisons.

The list of servers the workgroup is not availble.

I have today been to my dads set used all the same kit
but his computer (desktop) and it worked fine no problems
at all. I must be missing somthing on my desk top PC. I
upgraded it from ME about 4 months ago. Don't know if
this has anything to do with it.

Anyone got any ideas ???

Greetings Carl,

Make sure the XP's firewall is disabled. If you installed a third party
firewall such as ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, or Sygate make sure it
is properly configured for the local area network. Ensure NetBIOS over
TCP/IP on all computers. Details here.

Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (NetBT)
