our network of 3 computers worked perfectly fine up until
3 days ago when my comp suddenly decided not to recognize
the network. After hours of talking to comcast and
linksys, and reconfiguring my IP address and DNS stuff,
we came to the conclusion that i either had a DNS virus
(i have norton, and ran a scan with definitions from
wednesday, and it found nothing) or i have a problem with
windows or my PC. i honestly have no idea what happened
as the other two computers, one ethernet (like the
problem comp) and the other wireless... both still work
with the internet, and all three can see each other on
the network. my local area connection status on the
problem comp says its enabled and working well, but i
cant ping IPs using the command prompt, nor use any
application that requires the internet. for info, all
three are running Win Xp pro, our router is the WRT54G
from linksys, and yeah, i have absolutely no idea.
please help. im glad this comp still works, but thats
what makes it even weirder. (by the way, yes i have
tried pluggin the cable from the NIC directly into the
cable modem, it was a no go). thank you so much, email
or post a response plllleeease!
