Had local network working fine for couple years. Running
XP Home with SP1. Recently network ceased working. Tried
using Network Setup Wizard on main computer (one with
Internet DSL), but the wizard just runs and runs and
runs, never completing ... I give up after 10-15
minutes. Wizard works okay on second computer,
completing in about 30 seconds. Need Wizard to run
completly on both systems. Could be Wizard on main
computer is corrupt. Anyway to replace the Wizard?

Ron,

don't worry. If you cannot determine the cause and get the
wizard to run, just do without and set everything up directly,
by hand.

Check http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm to find out how to do
this.

Ron,

Try resetting TCP/IP.

Start - Run - "cmd". Type "netsh int ip reset c:\netsh.txt" into the command
window.

If that doesn't help, try "sfc /scannow".

If that doesn't help, try a repair install of Windows XP.

And remember, the networking wizard does nothing that you can't do manually,
with a few minutes of effort.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
