network usage monitoring tool (with logging function)

Hello,

I'm looking for a windows tool that would log the bandwidth usage on a
windows PC.
I've already used the basic XP administrative tool for performances
monitoring, also Ethereal, and MRTG, but I can't find all
functionnalities I'm looking for:

- I need to be able to measure the bandwidth between one PC and a
specific distant IP (so I need some kind of IP filtering)

- I need to have the tool run over a long period of time (8 hours per
day), and log all results (real / min / max / average usage) in files,
so that I can review at the end of the day...

- I need a rather small sampling unit (at least once / second)

does anyone know of such a tool ? shareware / freeware preferred of
course ;-)

PRTG - it does what you need with full accounting. You can filter as you see
fit. Very easy to set up and works like a charm.

How about "Sniffer" from MCafee?
That has always worked for us.

I use it on my WimXP box and it functions well. It's free too

Note that this, MRTG and many others require snmp capable devices. prtg only
requires a monitor port on a switch, or any cheap hub at the point at which
you want to measure and will use packet sniffing to monitor traffic based on
filters. It will do snmp too.
