I currently have a single win 2000 server with 15 client
machines in a factory - future expansion is expected. I
intend to add another server as a peer domain controller,
for redundancy and to reduce load. I will also be adding
another server which will have an ERP system running on
an SQL db.
Do I need to add the peer domain controller or can I get
away with the one I have. If this was to fall over would
the clients be able to log on to the ERP system as this
will be a member server linked to the domain

Having 2 DC's is always a good thing if you can afford it.

As for logging into SQL, it depends upon the security model your
database/ERP package uses. SQL can be configured to use Windows Domain
Security or use its own internally-managed security accounts. Check with
your vendor.
