Remote Location

I have our main office which houses all of our servers
(2DC's,1Exchange,1SQL,1WSUS & 1Websense)
we are using a new ERP system (MS Dynamics) I need to connect remote
location warehouses to the main office. I would prefer not to use a
VPN connection. The remote location warehouses will only have 1 XP Pro
computer that should be connected to our domain. I figure that I am
going to need a router w/ possibly VPN and firewall. The remote
locations are using DSL. I'm not sure how to set this up or
technically what I would need. Could someone please advise

If you don't want to use a VPN you'll need a dedicated T-1 or something.
Crossing the Internet unsecured is certain death. With a single computer
at each site, the built-in Windows PPTP VPN is an option. IF you have a
Windows server that you can configure RRAS for incoming PPTP VPN
connections, there's nothing much easier to set up.

If you want to set up a hardware VPN, you'll need a static IP address at
the main office and a Point-to-Multipoint capable VPN Router, usually
set up for one or more IPSec VPN tunnels. I recommend using the same
hardware at the remote sites as you use at the main office. There are
many: Cisco, Linksys, more. I am fond of the Secure Computing SG300.
Easy to set up and decent throughput at a reasonable price.

Thankyou for your info. I have some other ?'s should this single PC be
joined to the domain or as a stand alone, how should Antivirus be
handled either from our domain or locally on the PC. The main office
also has a Cisco ASA 5510 vpn/firewall and is also using a Fiber Optic
line with statically assigned IP Address. Is RRAS very difficult to
setup, I myself have never had any luck with setup. The single router
how would I set this up. I'm sorry about all the ?'s but I'm a total

It depends on whether you need the user to have seamless integration
with your domain. If you can get away with it, you'll have less traffic
if it's not a member.

Same thing. Do you use a corporate-type antivirus? If so, I'd probably
stick with it. I'm sure it can be configured to do all of it's updating
during off-peak hours.

Might consider hiring someone to help you. In my opinion, RRAS is about
the easiest remote-access / VPN server to set up as there is (at least
for PPTP connections).

If you go with a hardware solution, you'll need a router at the head end
and a router at each remote end. How you set it up depends on which
router you decide to buy. But to make things easier, be sure to buy one
that can to multiple IPSec tunnels and use the exact same model for all
of your sites.
