hello,
since windows 2000 and also in the beginning of WinXP,
there were many advices to stop services that are not really required.
and I have been doing so too.
but now it seems impossible to connect to a shared folder on another PC.
and this is not a firewall problem.
it is possible to ping, but not to share.
so, my question is, what services are required for this.
thnks
Fred

Fred,

Client services (ie connecting to shared folders on other computers) is provided
by the Workstation service aka LANManWorkstation. The other computer should be
running the Server service aka LANManServer. Check your services dependencies
list, to see what services those services depend upon.
