Network problem

I have the following set-up

2 PC's connected to a router/modem via ethernet cable.
Network created using Network Wizard and overall I have no
problems except:

Often when I open Windows Explorer in either machine it takes ages to
show the contents. Also when saving a file to the 2nd PC across network
generally gives me a connection error, but if I try once more time then
it works perfectly. "Automatically search for Network folders and printers"
is also ticked off.

Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

Try:

1. Open internet Explorer and click Tools/Internet Options. Click the
Connections tab - LAN Settings. If any boxes are checked, clear them.

2. Try turning off DHCP on the router and manually configuring your Local
Area connections. Use the same IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway
you currently have, but change the DNS server to the IP of your ISP's DNS
server. Note you can leave DHCP on and still configure the machines
manually - you might want to exclude the static IPs from the DHCP range, but
this is usually unnecessary; and there is very little benefit to running
DHCP on a 2 machine network.
