Hello all
I have a greek version of winxp professional so I will try to translate the
messages.
When the pc starts I get a message that the network may be without or with
limited credibilty.I have a lan between my motherboard and a siemens dsl
modem to connect to my provider.I also get the message that maybe I won't be
able to connect to the Internet.I connect fine. There is an option to fix the
problem and when I choose that I get a message that windows are trying to
renew the IP address and finally that they failed.
Any help?
Thanks

That can happen when your DSL service uses PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet).
A software-based broadband connection gets an IP address from your
ISP, and the hardware-based LAN connection doesn't get (or need) one.

In that case, assign a static IP address to the LAN connection to make
the message go away. Use a private address like 10.0.0.1 or
192.168.0.1.
