networking problem, (virus?)

Hi, I have a networking problem with my laptop (Fijitsu-Siemens Amilo M3438G,
win XP sp3):
eventhough the network connection sign is OK (at the bottom right corner
besides time), and I can open a small folder in my ciompany's LAN, I cannot
execute any program from it or explore big folders, or even get into the
Internet or Live Messenger. It seems that something is slowing down the
connection so much that it stops.
I sent my laptop to be checked from its official technical support in Greece
and they told me that the hardware is just fine, there is no problem with LAN
adapter or anything else. They said I should format and reinstall everything
on it. This will be my final step. Before that I am trying to solve the
problem. I have checked my hard disk with Symantec cooporate 10.5, Spybot
1.6.2, AdvancedSystemCare 3.3.1, FSecure, Windows system utilities
(checkdisk/scandisk), and finally tried a system restore. All with no result.
Due to the fact I work as an IT manager in a local company and I have this
problem almost 2 weeks, it keeps me off my network, and that is very very
critical for me.
If anybody has an idea I would appreciate it very much...

Hi
Does the laptop display the same behavior in other simple Wireless Networks
(like home of Internet cafe settings)?

Hi Jack, and thank you for your reply
no,
the laptop twice got into out city wireless net at the time I was checking
it with a friend technician at the city, but thats all..
My office is far away from city center, and I cannot test it anymore.
Afterall my major problem is cable-networking. I have ftp cat.6 everywhere in
the factory.
I don't remember if I mentioned but I have also test it with another
10/100/1000 Linksys switch.

It sounds like small packets work OK, but larger packets have a
problem. If so, this could be a MTU setting problem. Try using DrTCP
to set the [Max] MTU of your NIC to an ultra-conservative setting of
1300, reboot, and see if performance improves.
