Network Problem 2 computers

R

Richard in AZ

I have two computers networked through a DSL/router. Computer A and B (wife and husband)
Both computers use Windows XP SP2 Home Edition.
Both computers connect to router via an Ethernet cable.
Both computers use AVG antivirus, Windows Firewall, Windows Defender.
Both computers test free of spyware and/or virus (several test programs)
Both computers connect to the Internet and Email just fine.
Computer B can see the shared files on A, but A cannot access computer B files or printer.
Error message is "You do not have access to computer B, consult your administrator."
Computer A only need access to B to use the printer attached to B.

I already checked the registry at KHLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA
and the RestrictAnonymous is set to 0.

I have used the network setup wizard several times and can not get A to see shared files or shared
printer.

Any other suggestions?

Richard,

Computer B will require a local account that computer A can provide
credentials for to convince B it "let it in".
Also, turned off by default is "File and Printer Sharing" - check this with
Control Panel / Windows Firewall on PC - B.
Tick the checkbox to allow sharing files and printers under the Exceptions
tab.

Hope that Helps,
