Network printer prints unreadable

We have NT4 Print servers and XP workstations.

when we print from Acrobat reader we get squares in place
of characters and when we print from Visio we have
different characters from what we have on the screen.

Is this to do with NT Print servers?

How can I fix this?

This article gives a fairly good explanation of the types of issues you can
run into in this mixed NT 4 and 2000/XP environment.

In some cases (e.g. HP 4000 series - Word truncates the page), the only
solution we have found is to move the printer to a Windows 2000 server and
use the latest Windows 2000\XP (Version 3) drivers.
