network performance issues after applying MS automatic updates

I have 3 PC's on my home LAN. Transferring files between any of them
was always a breeze with my 100Mb network. Recently, I updated one of
the PCs(running Win2K Pro) with the recommended MS critical and
security updates. My other PC, running WinXP Pro and the other one,
running Win2K Adv. Server, also took their latest updates.

The Win2K Pro PC now is transferring files between it and either of
the other two PCs super slow. About a minute to move a 1MB file. I
updated NIC drivers, and even put in a new NIC, with no luck.

I changed the network sensing setting in each NIC to all match at
100Mb Full Duplex, but that didn't work. So, I set them back to
Auto-sense.

The XP and Adv. Server PC's can still move files between them quickly
as before. The hub, an SMC wireless hub/router, is fine because I've
swapped the cables and ports. The problem definitely seems isolated
to the Win2K Pro PC.

Where else can I troubleshoot with the bad PC?

Hi,

Am not a techie but I guess we could solve this,

1st go to Control Panel > Add and Remove Programs

2nd If you scroll through the list of installed programs
you would find a list of windows hotfix you 've
installed, locate this latest one u just installed and
uninstall it, restore the machine to it's last state
before you added the hotfix/patch try reboot and see
what difference their is if not give me a feed back.

I just added you on my yahoo messenger.

Unfortunately, it's been a while and I've applied numerous new ones
since then, so I'd have to back them out, one by one. I was hoping
others saw this behavior.

Have you checked the ipconfig/all? Does everything point to your server-IP?
You might have a look at articles 321098 and 270926.
