NETWORK LOG ON PROBLEM

Shinil John

Dear Microsoft team;

I will introduce my self-my name is Shinil John working
as CMS engineer for HDFC Ltd. Let me explain my issue. In
my site, ie HDFC , we are having one PC, Compaq deskpro
having Win 2000 Professional operating system. This PC
will allow only few users to access from Network. After
it makes 10 remote connection through MSTSC then it will
deny one more connection to that PC. Then the remedy is
to restart the PC, but again the same will be repeating
after a short span of time.

We had connected one net work printer on to this PC, so
each user has to access this PC for the printout. Due to
this problem, some times user cannot take any printout.

I tried to solve this problem by checking the security
and user rights settings. Also i couldn't resolve the
problem tried by changing the OS to Win 2000 Server also,
but our printer will not support this OS. SO i had to
bring back Win 2000 Prof.

Kindly check this issue and advise me to solve this as i
am eagerly seeking a solution

Thanks & Regards

Even though Microsoft sponsors this newsgroup, the respondents are
mostly volunteers from all over the world. Few if any are employed
by Microsoft.

About your question: All desktop versions of Windows are limited to
10 concurrent connections. To get more connections, you must install
a Windows Server product, plus the required number of CALs
(Client Access Licences). See here for more details:

If you want more than 10 connections, I believe you will
have to go with Windows 2000 Server. XP Home Edition only
allows 5 connections and XP Pro 10. So I am guessing that
Windows 2000 is the same as XP Pro.
