Network issue

I have an onboard davicom ethernet adapter with My Soyo
MB. I am running Xp pro. I am getting this problem with
the local area connection saying the network is not
conected then it will connect on its own and it will do
this when I try to connect to the internet and when I try
to connect to the internet and I get the page can not be
displayed error then i wait a few minutes then it works
again and I can get on the net but few minutes later it
happens again. the local area connection is unconnecting
and then connecting again. I am not unplugging the cable
or anything is this a virus? please help

Update the NIC drivers if possible or disable on-board adapter and install
PCI/USB adapter instead.
