Network icons and DVD Drive not detected

Hi All,

I am using a Toshiba Satellite laptop. My system is displaying the
network icons, but the wirless is working fine and connects to some
unsecured network. Similarly, my DVD drive is not displayed. I have XP
installed in my machine. I tried downloading the drivers for my DVD
drive, but the system says that my DVD drive drivers are intact and
perfect. I tried restoring my system with the last restore point. At
that time it said that the D: i.e my DVD drive has been deleted.

Please can somebody advise me.

Thanks
Sangeetha

What happens when you try to connect the notebook to your own network?

For the DVD, right click on My Computer, select Manage. On the following
screen click on Disk Management. The optical drive should appear on the
right hand side of the screen, where you can assign it a drive letter.
