I cant seem to be able to get the network icon in systray 99% of the time.
i have 2 computers 1 with win 2000 and the other with xp pro . They still
read each others shared files .
if i click on Network places the icon is back .
Any ideas would be awesome.

Network Connections, Local Area (or Wireless) Connection properties,
check the box at the bottom "show icon in notification area when
connected".

Geoff, I have exactly the same problem. Opened Network Connections. Under LAN or High-Speed Internet, clicked the network connection to be displayed on the taskbar. Then, under Tasks, clicked Change settings of this connection. On the General tab, clicked the Show icon in taskbar notification area when connected check box.
Whenever I start-up, DSL starts as it should but the icon is nowhere to be found. I open Properties and the notify box is not checked. Most annoying
I had the same problem keeping "Show Desktop" in the Taskbar. The group suggested a fix worked but which I regretfully did not save
Anybody have a solution
