Network device

Hi,
I have a Dell laptop and it works fine. I use the onboard wireless device
but keep the lan ethernet device enabled so if I connect harwired I don't
have to do any other steps. I noticed about a week or so ago that I get the
message a cable is disconnected. I have gone into the properties and
unchecked the boxes that say show device when connected as well as the box
that says show when limited or no connection. Even with those boxes unchecked
it still shows the device in the task bar as a disconnected device. I have
disabled and enabled teh device as well as uninstalling the hardware and
reinstalling it and I still get the message.
Thanks,
John

Have you checked the cable?

I too have been experiencing this when both my wireless and wired
router connections were active at the same time. Various possible
causes but the main one is that Wireless Zero Configuration "appears"
to not like it when a wired connection is also connected at the same
time. However, if I would use my wireless adapter "bundled"
configuration control software, all works.

Hi,
I am connecting with my wireless adapter but have the LAN/Ethernet device
enabled but not connected with a cable. I have unchecked the boxes in the
properties of the LAN/Ethernet device to not show when connected and to not
show when limited or no connection. The icon should not be showing in the
task bar as disconnected because I have unchecked the "show boxes". However
the device still shows and shows the device as disconnected. I want the
device to be enabled so I can connect without enabling the device when needed
but I don't want the icon reminder showing all the time. Like I said I have
unchecked both of the "show" boxes for the properties of the LAN/Ethernet
device but it is still showing in the task bar.
Thanks,
John
