Network desktop and laptop

Two computers peer-to peer networked via router. Desktop and Laptop. Laptop
has XP pro and one user account. Desktop has XP Home and five user accounts.
Both can see each other in Network Neighbourhood. Can PING each other. Both
have shares set up. Neither can access each others shares. Usual 'Resource
may be inaccessible or you may not have permission etc etc' error. Have
switched off XP firewall on both and no other frewalls active. Laptop has
worked fine when connected to another network. Help! Going bloody mad with
this one.

if you go to network places or my computer and the address bar and type

\\computername

computer name being the computer you're trying to connect to are you asked
for a username and password? if so enter the name and password of a valid
a/c on the computer you are trying to connect to (maybe you're doing this
already?)
