Network Connections

When I click on Network Connections I just get the egg-timer and am unable to
resolve an internet problem - any ideas?--

Follow the below step to access Network connections and see what happens:
1. Click Start, run, type "ncpa.cpl" (with out quotation marks) and click
OK.
 
Thanks but the problem is still there, I have edited the registry and deleted
the config file to no avail.
