Network connections problem:

Control Panel>Network connections>Wizard>connect to
internet.
I am using IP and LAN connections intermittently. Recently
I reloaded Microsoft XP and lost my IP connections. When I
was trying to establish a new connection, the wizard did
not let me do that. (On the roll down menu "Properties"
are grayed out).
I chose "connect to the internet"> Next I chose "set up my
connection manually">
On the last roll down page "connect using broadband
connection" is permanently selected. The option "using
dial up mode" is grayed out. What can I do to change the
wizard to allow dial up mode?
