Network Connections not shown

I have a HP Pavilion Notebook running Windows XP Media Edition. When I open
the network connections from the control panel nothing is there. I used to
see my LAN, wireless, 1394... However, I am able to connect to the internet.
The wireless icon does not appear in the toolbar on the taskbar. Also, no
hardware appears in the device manager. I know quite a bit about computers
but this one boggles my mind. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this

Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup, and that all computers have
NetBT enabled consistently.

For more direct help, provide "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config
server", and "net config workstation", from each computer, so we can diagnose
