Network Connection Bridge

Hi all,

I have compaq NC6000 laptop. The original configuration of the network
connections worked in a such way that there was an automatic switching
between wired and wireless connection.
If I plug the rj45 cable, the wireless connection will close and a red X
will be shown on its icon; the system will switch to the ethernet
connection.
The same worked the other way round; if I unplug the rj45 cable, the system
will start immediately the wireless connection and close the wired one.

I had to reinstall the laptop using the original disks. The network bridge
was created.
I downloaded all the available files from HP but no utility was there to
recreate the bridge.

I have manually created a network bridge. Winxp worked fine with or without.
The wired connection was always connected when it's available. The issue is
that the wireless one was also on, even though it was just standing by.

I didn't managed to have the network bridge to act as when it was originally
installed. The HP support is useless.

Any help is very much appreciated.
