1. do I need to use the same cards in both PCs? Answer - NO. Ethernet cards can be physically different so long as you have the right ethernet software driver for it. e.g Intel & 3Co
2. one pc runs 98se the other xp pro I also have an ethernet connection for my broadband but I want to keep that separate from the network. Answer Windows 98se may cause you problems as it is 'plug & pray' so make sure you have the right ethernet driver on diskette or CD before you begin .. and make sure its for Windows 98!. Windows XP is like Mac OS10 in that it has a selected range of hardware that is supports , but again, make sure you have the Windows XP CD b/c it may ask you for files
4. The 98se is on a pentium II/300 can I install xp pro on that pc with that processor? Answer - check the minumum hardware requirements on the Microsoft web site befire installin
