Windows 98SE computer on XP network

I have a home network with 4 PCs. One is running 98SE and the others XP. They
are all connected via a router and the router is connected to the internet
via a cable modem. The 98SE PC has access to the other PCs on the network and
vice versa. The 98SE PC has not been active for awhile and there were
multiple 98SE updates required. In the course of updating this PC, this PC
lost the ability to access the internet and can't even access the router. All
the other PCs can still access the internet. I have run the network set-up
disk from an XP PC on the 98SE PC. I have tried reloading 98SE. All to no
avail. So, what are my next steps?

So it does? I stand corrected, but that's my fault as I've never really used
Win98. I went from Win95 to WinNT 4.0 Workstation and never really looked
back to Win9x OS's.

What type of update did you do on the 98SE PC?

Try a different network cable and router port.

Un-install and re-install the network card on 98SE. Download and
install the 98SE driver from the network card manufacturer. You might
have to download it on another computer and copy it to 98SE using a
CD-R, floppy, USB thumb drive, etc.
