I am getting a message that a network cable is unplugged.

There is a x on the local area connection.

How can I resolve this problem?

If you are not using the network connection (no high
speed internet/no other computers in a home network) then
you can turn off the notification in the systray this
way...

Right Click My Network Places
Choose Properties
Right Click Local Area Connection
Choose Properties
Uncheck "Show icon in notification area when connected"

First make sure the cable is plugged in,if you have 2
ports try plugging it in into the other one,worked for me.

Try right clicking on it and select repair,it usually
doesnt work but give it a try.contact your network and
check your settings with them,try making a new connection
