My home network connection, suddenly decided that the

Check the settings on the connection speed. For the card,
this will be in the network card (either from the device
manager or from the connection, properties|general
tab|connect using...|configure) Advanced tab, connection
type. It should be auto-negotiate. The other end should
be auto-duplex, auto-speed also. Mixing these causes all
sorts of problems - auto/auto is your safest choice.

The same thing was occuring for me, and my settings were
precisely as you described - that is, set on Auto-Negotiate
and whatnot. What else could be wrong?

FWIW - I came across this article on PC Magazines site
(http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1644198,00.asp) it talks about WINSOCK
getting corrupted - causing "unplugged" messages. It also references Msft KB
811259 and 299257.

I recently reinstalled XP to fix this problem. The next week I come across
this article - sheeeesh.

Take a look - hope it helps.

excues me for tagging on, but I have the same problem. However, I don't know
what you mean by "the other end" do you mean the setting in windows or are
there settings thru the router? Thanks!
