Network Cable is unplugged

Help! I have a 16 port switch with 10 XP connections.
All are working except one computer. I am using static
IP for a Medical Software application using MSDE as the
database. When I boot up the system I get the bubble
message "Local Area Connection 1"
"A network cable is unplugged"

I tried a different cable to the hub and it still does
not work. I have taken the computer offsite for a
technician to diagnose and it works fine on his hub. I
took it to my home and hooked it into my home network and
it works fine. I brought it back to the medical office
and used a connection for one of the other computers that
is working and I get the same "cable unplugged" message.
I have tried assigning "Dynamic IP" and still no luck. I
have uninstalled AOL, PCAnywhere, Norton Antivirus and
all of the Symantec extras. Is there some configuration
parameter somewhere that has to be set or set wrong? I
am at a loss and do not know where to go from here.

Try various settings for speed and duplex mode, as shown here:

I resolved my problem by inserting another switch between
the main switch and the computer I was having problems
with. It appears to be an incompatibility between the
computer and the main hub/switch. Thanks for your help.
