Network Adapter Startup Preference?

Hello,
Is there any way to set the Network adapter to start before other programs,
such as setting it as a higher preference? I have a couple clients that when
they boot up the first time in the morning, everything else will be on the
desktop but it takes FOREVER for network card to load up and show the small
icon on the bottom right taskbar. Once this loads, then they can connect to
the network. This isn't anything specific with these clients, but I've
noticed this before with WinXP occasionally.
