network adapter not picking up

I just received information to install a dsl system in our
computer. while going through the process of installing
this new dsl service, it says to install a network adapter
b/c none was detected. how do i install one if there
really isn't one on the pc that i have? I have tried all
the troubleshooting and everything else I could find. I
have windows me .

Go and buy a NIC for your computer. Follow the directions bundled with your
Ethernet adapter (NIC) for installation of your adapter under Windows ME.
The majority of installations are easily completed by you, the end-user.

And search Gooble for a howto. This may be a starting place for you:

Another source of info will be NIC vendor sites like 3com, netgear, smc,
etc. They usually have users manuals and installation guides on their site.
