Since installing SP2 every once in a while when I try to go into Control Panel I get error message that says it can't load (or find, I can't remember which) Netsup.cpl.

Is this a known bug?

Hi Bob,

I don't know of any control panel applet by the name of Netsup.cpl. Are you
sure you have the name right? If you click start/search/files and search for
it, does it exist on the system?

Hi,

Well, it's not a known bug. Try expanding a new copy of that file. Start/run
msconfig, click on "expand file" (general tab)

File to expand: netsetup.cpl
From: C:\Windows\servicepackfiles\I386
To: C:\Windows\system32

This assumes a default installation to C:\Windows. If your installation is
in a different folder, such as C:\Winnt, change the "To" path accordingly.
Reboot when finished.

Ok, I did that but I will have to wait to see if it works, since it does not
happen everytime I go into control panel. It may only happen every couple
of times. One note, this also happens on my laptop computer as well.

No such luck, still getting the same popup. Here it is exactly.

"An error occurred while Windows was working with the Control Panel file
C:\Windows\system32\netsetup.cpl"

Hi Bob,

Not sure why it would be a problem. If you right-click/rename the file to
netsetup.old does the problem go away? Or does it just switch to a different
target? The file just starts the network setup wizard, so is not essential
to normal operations.

Uninstall this crap!

You receive an "Error occurred while Windows was working with the Control
Panel file" error message when you open Control Panel in Windows XP SP2

Are you using Verizon? Or SBC?

netsetup.cpl is related to IPMON32. IPMON32 = IPMON32.exe

ipmon32.exe is an application from Verizon. It provides the user with
monitor diagnostic tools. It is known to consume large amount of resources.

[[Q: Is IP insight really needed?
A: No it's not necessary at all. It's a diagnostic tool that Verizon techs
can use to troubleshoot connection problems on your line. IP Insight is a
Quality of Service and/or diagnostic package - but it's not used by VOL at
this time - there's no back-end companion for tech support or NOC to use to
access it... It does send "phone home" data used to check latency and
network traffic occasionally, but like any other features that it contains
are unused or not implemented.]]

IPMon32.exe seems to be related to spyware.

C:\Program Files\Visual Networks\Visual IP InSight\SBC\IPMon32.exe

C:\Program Files\Verizon Online\Visual IP InSight\IPHook32.dll
