I have been using netmeeting for years. All of a sudden I
can not accept or ignore any calls as my puter will hang
up. I am able to make calls though. Compaq says to
uninstall NM and install again. Fine, but it is included
in Windows XP and I cant uninstall. When I go to
microsoft website, and try to download anyway, it says
the version they have is not for my version of windows.
Any suggestions out there?

Thanks for any help.

Summer,

Look on your hard drive for an I386 folder (it may be hidden). If its
there, if you're asked for your XP CD, and given the option to "browse",
point it to the I386 folder.

As for removing/installing, have you installed a firewall program recently?
Or started using XP's built in firewall? If so, this may be your issue.
NetMeeting requires a lot of open ports to work correctly through a
firewall.

This could well be a firewall situation, Summer, as you can usually get
through it from your computer (ports are opened to allow it), but other's
can't get in from outside. The number of ports that NetMeeting requires
makes it problematic to run behind a firewall. It was never designed for
it. You might want to look into switching to Messenger or one of the other
instant messaging programs that support voice.
