Netmeeting on a LAN

Hello,

I am trying to get Netmeeting to work on a LAN. There is NO Internet. It
appears from the instructions in the help section that Netmeeting will work.
In one location is states that "If you use NetMeeting over a local area
network (LAN) or a gatekeeper, directory servers do not appear in the list."
This would indicate that you could use it on the lan. I can not log on to
the 'sever' because it appears to be looking for the interent, which we do
not have. We have Window XP - home and PRO. We have some wireless
connections and some wired connections. There are about 7 total users. I
believe that NetMeeting states something that it would be great for that
purpose - connecting and sharing files with a small group of people. It does
not quite tell you how to do it.

I have tried calling by the computer name - to which I get the error -
'NetMeeting could not find the name of the person you are trying to call on
the directory server. Check to make sure the address is correct, or change
the address type in the Using box." I have also tried using the IP address -
to which I get the NetMeeting box up with "Waiting for a response from [the
ip address] and then the notice that 'the person you called is not able to
accept NetMeeting calls'. Not sure what that means exactly. I have both of
the computers next to each other so I an see what happens and there was never
a request to accept the call. The do not disturb sign is not clicked. I am
waiting for the 'phone' to ring.

What am I doing incorrectly?

Does anyone know the secret? Am I asking the impossible? Is there a
solution? Your help is most appreciated.

Thank you.
