Netgear MA101 driver V2.4

Hi, can Anyone help me with either of these issues...

1. My MA101 loses the WEP security settings in the Adapter configuration
utility each time the PC is rebooted.
The Windows "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" is
unchecked. I am using the latest Netgear driver (2.4).

2. The Adapter Utility program is started for all users (Windows XP Pro) and
displays an error message for Limited users:
"WLanmonitor.exe The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000022). Click on OK to terminate the application".
It runs fine for Administrators. Do Limited users need to have the program
run at start-up? How do I restrict it to just Administrators if they don't
need it?

Regards,
Andrew

Andrew,

Ref. 1. It's not obvious or explicit, but have you saved the profile once
you had the MA101 setup and working. If not, you are back to factory
defaults next logon/startup.
FWIW it caught me out!!!!

Ref.2 Hard to comment as I run it on win2k, but the utility needs to run
each time of wireless networking is required. I would have thought it may
run as a local machine service rather than local user, but not an issue I've
had to worry about. Not sure why you would want admin only, unless you are
restricting network access to standalone? If so, there are others ways you
could restrict access rights etc.

Hi Graham,

Thanks for your quick reply.
1. I don't have an option/tab to save profiles with this utility so I'm not
sure how to do this.
2. I'm really just trying to stop the error message. I'm using the NTFS file
system - I also wonder if it's a question of allowing access to some
folder/registery key for Limited users...

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew,

My MA111 has a Profile tab (obtained by double-clicking the icon in system
tray) - I hoped yours would be the same/similar?
If it is you give a name to the saved config you have setup and a save
button becomes "ungreyed" and you can save the profile which will be used
next time.
If this isn't the case check the support online manual on netgear web site
if you haven't got your own copy here as pdf download....

2. If network not required, use msconfig to disbale the HKCU entry for the
MA101 maybe? Awkward to say as I don't run mine on XP.

HTH.

Rgds,
Graham.
