NeT.Transport Question

H

Howard Schwartz

I've recently switched from Star Downloader to Net.Transport for
downloading files from the Web. I've been please with what seems to be
Net.Transport's better speed, but confused by its documentation,
especially
its description of how to download a file:

--------------------------
Net Transport  monitors browser clicks. When user clicks on a URL link,
Net Transport monitors to check whether its extension matches the
monitored file types in the Options/Monitor. If so, the URL will be added
to the job list in the main window. This is the most convenient and
direct manner.
---------------------------

This reads like, if you click on a URL to download some file, file.zip,
Net Transport will add file.zip to its list of jobs. But this click
should
start, for instance, Firefox's OWN download manager, which will download
the file -- unless you can disable the browser's builtin download
capability.

Further, I do not find file.zip is actually added to Net.Transport's
jobs when I click on a downloadable link. The only way I know to activate
Net.Transport downloads is to cut and paste the URL of a download, into
Net.Transport's own `add' screen. I also can not figure out how to
download a web page, including its images. It appears Net.Transport
only provides integration with the IE browser.

Can anyone explain the above passage about `monitoring browser clicks'
to me?

I also would like tips on using a downloader, when a download link is to
a file with a `php' suffix -- which usually appears to contain javascript
code to send a file to one's PC. Is the data `streamed' to my PC in some
way? So far, I can only successfully download such files, by using my
browser's endemic download capability.

Thank for an info., or pointers to primers or FAQs, etc.
